Cymatika

San Francisco, CA, USA / May 2017 / Is there a connection between lightwaves and sonic vibrations? Yes, and it is called Cymatics.

Cymatics, the study of wave phenomena, is a science pioneered by Swiss medical doctor and natural scientist, Hans Jenny (1904-1972). It is derived from the Greek 'kyma' meaning wave and 'takymatica' meaning matters pertaining to waves.

I investigated the effects of LED light synchronization with sound-waves to produce various phenomena via a machine I built and a software platform called Max/MSP.
