Catacomb of Veils
Black Rock City, NV, USA / August 2016 / Epic ephemera art installation that is considered among the largest projects ever built in Burning Man’s 30-year history.
Comprised of two overlapping pyramids extending 50’ above the Playa, Catacomb covered an area encompassing over 19,000 square feet, a span of almost 4 football fields.
I supported a build team of dedicated volunteers to produce this once in a lifetime moment envisioned by my good friend, and noted architect, Dan Sullivan.
Role: Production Manager / Volunteer
Architect/Artist: Dan Sullivan Build Lead: Scott Prusso
At 220' across and covering almost 19,000 square feet of playa area, Catacomb of Veils was the largest art piece at Burning Man 2016 and one of the largest burned sculptures in the history of the event.
Along with a talented crew of over 200 builders, I provided project support expertise and team leadership crucial to the on-time deployment of Catacomb of Veils.
